A helping hand

There are many reasons people are out of work and this can be difficult to deal with by yourself. Our Job Club offers CAP’s Steps to Employment course. Here there is a friendly, supportive environment where you will meet with other jobseekers, get practical help and encouragement as you begin the journey back to employment.

Hope Central works in partnership with Christians Against Poverty to bring you Steps to Employment – a free 8 week course which will equip you with the tools you need to find employment, from CV writing skills to interview techniques. Throughout the course you will learn what your strengths are and what you would like to do going forwards.

Through the Job Club, Hope Centre and our work with refugees our Job Club Manager has successfully helped 20 people back into employment, voluntary work or further education. 10 out of the 11 people who have so far attended the Job Club have gone on to achieve their desired outcome (employment, voluntary work, education).

If you would like to find out more about the Job Club and the Steps to Employment course, contact Karen (pictured opposite) for more information.

“I had been out of work for a long time, and my confidence was really really low. I didn’t know anyone else searching for work, and I forgot the basics about applying [for work]. I needed someone to talk to about getting back into work as my anxiety was building…I heard about the Job Club through my church. I contacted Karen (Job Club Manager), she was so welcoming. I felt really supported through the course and gained confidence…It has been amazing and I am regularly volunteering now” .
